I know January is almost half way over (how?) but I feel like I am just now starting my fresh new year. As much as I (very much) disliked 2017, and am putting all my hopes in 2018, this past year brought some amazing moments.
Andrew and I always do a “recap” and “goal writing” on the 1st, and I am also so shocked at how much we actually did when I sit down to write it out. Especially in 2017, I thought the only good thing was getting married, but once I started looking back, there was so many moments that made it a pretty amazing (but also awful) year.
W E D I D:
The majority of the first six months of the year were consumed with all things #kimmirewsaysido. I still need to write a proper recap of our wedding, but in short, it was more perfect than I could have imagined. And I am sure that all our good juju for the year went to the weather that day. Either way, it was by far the highlight of 2017 for us.

We talked about taking a proper honeymoon right after, but due to work schedules, and all around mental capacity limits being reached, we opt-ed to take a relaxing, loungy, minimoon, right after and then head on a big trip at the end of the year.
Our minimoon was the exact opposite of what we originally wanted, but perfect too. The Utah National Parks are worth every mile it takes to get there, you can read more about the trip here.

We got to dress up a few times this year to celebrate our favorite people tie the knot, but our favorite one to be guest at was my my brother’s and new sister in laws. I have always wanted a sister, and in the short span of a couple months I gained 2! It was so fun to be able to dance the night away with our favorite kids. I am pretty sure Holland (our flower girl, on the right) was feeling her status of favorite being threatened in the photo above. Not to worry, her status is firmly sealed, sometimes I think more in Andrews heart then mine.
My favorite flamingo got his share of miles this year. From ringing in the new year in Reno, to Park City, to Vegas, to South Africa. He was most thrilled about the trip to Vegas for Amy’s birthday.

Against everything in my being, I sported Texas gear for our trip to Dallas. I held off on the burnt orange, but next time, as long as they aren’t playing USC I promise to dive in head first for the Longhorns. We have been to Texas a couple times recently, and each time I forgot how big, and open, and delicious it is.
We opted for very non traditional holidays this year. We headed to Disneyland for Thanksgiving with Andrews family, and I want to say it was one of our families better ideas. Disneyland was a bit crowded but we got to do everything we wanted, and California Adventure was virtually empty (except for the cars ride). We also stayed at the Disneyland hotel (thanks to Andrews parents), which I had never done! It was so many kinds of magical, and perfect for afternoon breaks. Also, they have a rum version of the dole whip. I could pass on the dole whip every time, so I opted to split the rum version with Andrew. Horrible mistake. It is very worth the treck over to the hotel any time of day!

In November I finally pulled the trigger on getting a drone. It my be my favorite purchase of 2017, and the most fun to play with. Trying to find the right angle for photos from a new perspective has been such a fun challenge. Luckily the first weekend we had it, we headed down to San Diego to watch my brother coach football, which lead to some great shots of my old high school field and San Diego beaches.

I lucked out with a number of fun trips to Utah this year. Planning a wedding there definitely helps motivate you to brave TSA. Besides the wedding, my trip in December to visit my mom, with my grandmother, was my favorite time up there! We did a few “tourist” things I have never done, along with some normal things, and a lot of just hanging out.

I am planing a few other post dedicated to our Honeymoon and South Africa, but could not post a year recap with out touching on the perfection that was #kimmirewshoneymoon. I am not emotionally ready to dive in to all of the magic South Africa holds, example A is above with unedited, barley selected photos, but it is coming soon. All I will say is that my expectations were high, and I expected to be disappointed. The whole trip, well most of it, once we got there at least, was better than I imagined.
I hope you follow along in 2018!
