Last year I hostessed a “recovery brunch” for our friends after a charity event we went to. It was nice to be able to see everyone the next morning, reminisce about the night and hear stories you forgot or weren’t around to see. It also made me feel far less conscious as I realized I wasn’t the only one who had a glass too many. I wish every crazy night had a mandatory brunch after, it showed me the appeal of the day after wedding brunch. Ever since, I have had a morning after brunch on my must list for my wedding.
Most Thanksgivings sort of have that build in as you are surrounded by family for the weekend. But what about friendsgivings, and all the upcoming holiday parties this season? You are going to need a killer go-to hostess gift in your back pocket to help replicate the feeling.
After prepping for days and throwing a lovely party, I know that host doesn’t want to deal with anything the next day so I try to bring something that will be helpful the morning after.
Most of the time I stick with a breakfast baked good, muffins, scones, etc. They go over pretty well and I keep a few so that I have breakfast the next morning. Its a win-win situation.
But for the upcoming holidays I want to bring something more of a gift, and to help with those rougher mornings. When I threw that recovery brunch, my favorite part was the bloody mary bar. I figured if I could bottle that up, it would make a perfect hostess gift. And so I did.
I made a batch of tomato salt and bloody mary mix, both from the spring magazine, made some bacon sticks, put my favorite add-ins into tiny jars, and placed them all in a box. Pop in some tiny bottles of vodka, and you are guaranteed to be your hosts favorite guest ever.
