Welcome! I am so glad you are here. I am so glad I am here. I am so glad this is finally here!
As you can see. Winston + Lou is now Supper Club Social. I always thought W+L was going to be the last blog/business name I had, as it was so vague and general, it would cover any direction I went. Over the last few months, I learned that it was too vague. People had no idea what I was doing when I would say the name, once I took 30-90 seconds to explain it, they got it, but there was still that look of “what in the world” and I wanted to avoid that if possible.
Many of you know I have been running Supper Club Social for the past year on the side, hosting pop up dinner parties, teaching cooking classes, and a little bit of private chef-ing. I always intended to keep my blog, business and SCS as separate entities, but the time came to merge them.
Back in March I was presented with an opportunity that gave me more time to focus on working for myself, and I knew the first thing I was going to have to do was re-group. Things were very spread out, I had too many directions going, and wasn’t sure W+L had the ability to grow into what I needed or wanted. I had the chance to brainstorm where I wanted to be in 1, 5, and 10 years, and knew it was time for a well thought out change.
In the past, when I made a switch, I would make the change, jump in head first, and then figure things out from there. This time, I wanted to figure things out first, workout the backend, and then move forward. For the past couple months I have been working on this site. I purchased a theme, but there was so many specific things I wanted it to do, and having never used WordPress, it has taken sometime to get it what you see today. Many hours have been spent googling and youtubing very specific code and writing and re-writing it. But it has all been worth it.
Now the recipe archives are so easy to navigate. Having easily accessible archives that you could browse, search, and find exactly what you wanted was one of the biggest reasons I switched over to WordPress.
Those were my top 3 user side needs going into this project. When I launched Recipe Club last month, I put having an archive of those recipes as well so that members could browse the past months even if they join late. I figured it would be done a little ways down the line, but I was able to add it in last week and it was so exciting. (The RC archive is password protected as it is just for members, but RC is free, it just requires you sign up! You will receive the password in your confirmation email! Current RC members, be on the lookout for the password coming to your inbox!)
I have missed blogging and have so many post in the queue that I have been dying to share. I decided to keep them off the old site to have plenty of content for the new SCS, and to focus my time on finishing the site!
I hope you take a look around, and if you find any broken links, incorrect information, anything, please let me know! I am sure there are a few 🙂 Also, dont forget to sign up for Recipe Club or the email newsletter so you never miss a recipe or magazine!
