I have a thing for DIY-ing trays, (you can see the last one I made here) and I am so excited to share this one with you today. It is one of the easiest, and my favorite, DIY I have made.
As we head into the holiday season we are all on the search for the perfect gift for those we love. In my mind there are no better gifts than custom or personalized ones, and I think this would make a great gift, if you can bare to part with it. I have a couple post coming up that touch on ways to give gifts that you can tailor to each person in your life, and shockingly most revolve around incorporating photos and or travels.
This custom map tray worked out better than I expected. I made this tray over the weekend, it only took about an hour. I saw the original tray on tumblr, you can see it here, it is from Target. Honestly, the only reason I stopped on the photo is because the caption said the person needed this tray, if only Target would slice the price 50%, I was curious what it the world could be so expensive at Target?
Depending on the size of your frame and artworks, you simply laminate it and place it it the frame, sans glass. This way your design is protected and looks a little more professional and clean. I know FedEx kinkos laminates things for about a $1.
The other option is mod poge. I would only recommend this option if you cannot laminate. My frame is over sized so it will require a special print when I want to change it out, and I’m not even sure it can be laminated.
