On of my girlfriends gave birth to her sweet little one over the weekend. I didn’t see her too often through her pregnancy but every time I did, she looked flawless. She made it look like she breezed through it. I mean, she was at book club last week and if you didnt see her belly, there is no way you would have know she was 9 months pregnant!
Our book club put together a fun little shower for her back at the beginning of September to celebrate her. She had all the basics and her registry was fulfilled so we decided to keep it simple. Being that we were a bookclub and they didnt find out the gender, we simply asked everyone to bring a book for the little one’s future library.
Can we talk about these cookies? I am in no way a cookie decorator, but I think every party needs them (see here, here, here, and here)! I had a vision for plain white onesies and rattles that have rainbow sprinkles in the shaker part. The rattles (see two photos up) came out just how I imagined (just less perfect!) but the frosting was a little off, so I ended up using sprinkles on the onesies as well and then turned out just fine!
I made two cakes. The first was the berry and lavender cake (the cake on the yellow stand with the grey toppers) was based off this photo. It turned out only okay, it didn’t come together as I wanted, and it was a little heavy and the frosting was off. I like light fluffy cakes. I have a little work to do on this cake, but am determinted to get it right!
The second is my one of my favorite cake ever, a double chocolate peanut butter cake with caramel corn. It is the second time I have made it, and each time I am just amazed at how delicious it is. Each time I have made mini cakes, sort of seen in the photo above, which make it easier for people eat. Honestly, I think normal cakes are sort of awkward, waiting for someone to cut it, wanting a little or a lot, mini cakes are more my jam! I have a frozen layer in my freezer waiting to be enjoyed. I promise to share this recipe soon, after I go on a couple dozen hikes.
