Hello and happy Tuesday! I hope you had a wonderful long Memorial Day weekend! This was the last weekend Andrew had free so we took advantage of it, and did practically nothing. We never once set an alarm. It was fantastic.
We did go for a hike (although not at all the one we attended, LA really needs to get its trail game together!), finally tried LAMILL, barbecued, and spent some time in the kitchen. With Andrews days on the East Side dwindling, we are trying to get in as much as we can, hikes, shops, restaurants, etc. while he’s there!
There are zero trail markers/signs, so getting where you want to go on an LA hike is near impossible the first time. Although, we are ready to go back and conquer the east side loop.
I have heard about LAMill constantly. And was put off by it’s hipster, pretentious reputation, but still wanted to try it. It absolutely lives up to its reputation, however it is good. The food, the coffee, the decor, the hipsters definitely know what they are doing, and I am slightly jealous I don’t fit in, at all. But, I’ll be back.
On Sunday we barbecued, because I think that is a rule for Memorial Day. I am so glad Andrew not only has a backyard, but a roommate with a grill. A grill pan has only gotten me so far, and barbecuing anything instantly makes it better. We made Mexican Chorizo Garlic Shrimp burgers. They were delicious, and while I think the burger part of the recipe needs a little tweaking, the shrimps were perfect. I will share the recipe soon!
Monday night I made the last of the biscotti recipe. I had frozen the dough and wasn’t sure if it would work, or still be delicious, but it was. There is nothing like the smell of fresh biscotti taking over your apartment. I took most of them into work this morning because I cannot have them in my apartment. Look for the recipe this week!
Cheers to it already being Tuesday!
