I am so excited to officially start my new series In her Seat. The idea is to give you a look into some of the wonderful small businesses out there and how their owners make things happen! Small business owners are constantly on their feet, and are go go go, but most of the behinds the scenes work takes place at their desks or in their offices. You could learn a lot from walking in their shoes, but wouldn’t you rather grab a coffee, a scone, and kick back and watch them work from In their Seat?
I could not ask for a better first spotlight than Lauren, from Pearls & Pastries! I found Lauren’s shop from a pin that Glitter Guide pinned! Her shop features all things that you need to add sparkle to your life. From her prints, to her bowls, to her famous sequined hangers, you need to add a little Pearls & Pastries to your life! Take a look into Lauren’s office (which is all perfectly Pinterest worthy!), and learn more about her below!

When starting your company, what did you find the most helpful? When I first started my company I really had no idea what I was doing…I looked up to blogs that I had read for years such as “Cupcakes and Cashmere” & “Love Maegan” As they became my inspiration…it all just came into place from there. Networking has also been a huge help for me. Meeting girls just like me for instance I had no idea what a “blog button” was I called upon one of my fellow bloggers and she made me a button and I sent her a sequin hanger in exchange!
Tell us about your company: I started filling my Etsy shop with things that make my days a bit brighter; hoping that in turn it would brighten yours also! I love the little extras in life whether its the beautiful confetti sitting in a bowl on my desk or hanging a new dress on a stunning gold sequin hanger.. Each time I walk past all of the little treasures featured in my shops, it puts a smile on my face!
How do you spend your day? What is a normal day/schedule for you?
A normal day for me is
Get up around 8
Get ready for the day
Post Office Run!
Teach until about 6:30
Write Blog Post
Watch an episode of “The Office”
Then Lights Out!
What is the best advice you have received/what is the best advice you can give to someone who wants to start their own company? I feel the best advice I have ever received was from the book The everygirl’s guide to life” By Maria Menounos “You have to be willing to work for free”.
That statement is so incredibly true! Some of the biggest networking opportunities for me were from me working for free and or donating items
What are your goals for your company?
